Description
Las Vegas showroom magician Cris Johnson has a secret: he can see two minutes into the future. Sick of the government and scientific interest in his gift, he lies low in Vegas, performing cheap tricks and living off small-time gambling "winnings." But when a terrorist group threatens to detonate a nuclear device in Los Angeles, government agent Callie Ferris must use all her wiles to capture Cris and convince him to help her stop the cataclysm.

Customer rating is 3 of 5  Living in two times   2010-08-31
By Anibal Madeira (Lisboa Portugal)
Our main character Chris (Nicholas Cage) is always living in two times at once, permanently seeing the possibilities ahead (just two minutes, and we must remenber that the future is always changing). This movie is just like that: it has two tempos, infinite possibilities captured in a very finite and limited result.

Good interpretations from Mr. Cage in the first part of the movie; Ms. Biel is beautiful but the role ain't demanding; Ms. Moore is a much better actress then this interpretation.

Some of the scenes of this movie will be with in the memory of the viewer for a long time (SLIGHT SPOILER - like the Chris introduction to Liz, or his declaration, the escape from the casino or the first talk with FBI agent Ferris...that never happened - END OF SPOILER). Unfortunately it has many flaws and holes (SPOILER - I still don't understand why the terrorists chase Chris and want him killed so badly??? And who are those terrorists, what do they want? Sometimes two minutes sounded more like five or six? And many more... - END OF SPOILER).

A nice Sci-Fi/action movie, you probably won't regret seeing.
Customer rating is 4 of 5  Cage Plays a Very Quirky PreCog   2010-07-22
By Joseph J. Slevin (Carlsbad, CA United States)
Nic Cage plays a very quirky guy who seems to just be floating along in life. You find out very quickly that he has a sixth sense about him while he is at the black jack table. He gets into trouble, but you see him ducking in and out of harms way with extreme ease and wonder what it is that makes him able to do so.

In one scene you see him fighting against someone, and then you see that person again, here is where his talent is revealed.

Suddenly, the FBI is looking for him. How do they know about him and his talents? Also, the enemy is looking for him too? I must have missed something because I am not sure how they know about him at all. You see Julianne Moore as the lead FBI agent on the case, she is just great, intense, professional and inflexible in what she is doing. Each scene keeps you wondering if you are seeing the reality or a flash forward two minutes into the future. So, there are definate surprises throughout the movie because of this.

Although from the same author as the Minority Report and Total Recall, there are definate elements that you have with a surprise or two, yet this is so much less so a full blown scifi thriller as it has little related to that since it not a futuristic movie. Cage is just a guy with a gift.

Jessica Beil is one of his visions, and with her he can see further out for some reason. When he finally meets her there are some very funny scenes that are 'replayed' that look like great outtakes.

The movies climax is just great, the last 1/2 hour is a definate intense thrill. He goes from the rim of the Grand Canyon to Los Angeles as one long avoidance of disaster. His gift keeps him safe, so he is almost like a superhero and that is what makes the movie so fun. The end is a real cool surprise, worth the price of the DVD or at least a rental.

I prefer to acquire the movie because there is so much in it.
Customer rating is 3 of 5  enjoyable, but Dick's prose is better.   2010-05-17
By Bachelier (Ile de France)
I always tell people to read Philip K. Dick, because his prose is better than film adaptations.
Jessica Biel is lovely as the romantic interest, and Nicolas Cage does a credible job (but not as good as he did in Lord of War).
The plot follows the misadventures of Cage as a sideshow magician that can actually see into the future for two minutes, which the governemtn finds very interesting and wants to enlist him to thwart nuclear terrorists (like 24, but in a movie).
Long chase scenes, special effects. power posturing, and defeated reluctant hero ensue, climaxing in.......
If you think broken hearts and a nuclear explosion, you haven't seen a Hollywood film in years.
Julianne Moore reprises her role as Special Agent Clarice Starling in this okay "thriller."
Customer rating is 5 of 5  Great Product BUY IT   2010-03-15
By Alex Kon (USA)
Great acting and it makes you think.

This movie is a fast-paced thrill ride that has fun with the idea of being able to see into the future.
